From the 1 ^st November 2000 many businesses will not be stocking food products that contain ingredients from animals raised on GM feed.

The wholesalers listed below, who supply most of the wholefood and health food shops in the UK, refuse to stock all GM foods and have unanimously agreed to phase out and delist all cheeses, yoghurts, milk, milk powders, eggs, meat, farmed fish and other products from GM-fed animals - and all products that use these as ingredients - by the 1 ^st November 2000.In order that minimum inconvenience is caused, we are attempting to give all relevant businesses advance notice of this deadline so that they can ensure that their ingredients meet these standards and that farmers providing these ingredients can provide written guarantees to you that they are only using non-GM supplies of animal feed in the production of these products.Please note that some members may set themselves an earlier deadline or may already be avoiding these products.

The above policy has been endorsed and adopted by many retailers and manufacturers and by the following wholesalers:

Brewhurst, Community Foods, Daily Bread, Essential Trading, Good Food Distributors, Goodness Foods Wholesale, Green City Wholefoods, The Health Store, Highland Wholefoods, Infinity Foods, Marigold, Rainbow Wholefoods, Suma Wholefoods, Queenswood Natural Foods, and Whole Earth.

We expect any remaining wholesalers to adopt this policy soon. If you have not yet registered with GFA and provided a guarantee that your products meet our existing standards then please ask our researcher research@geneticfoodalert.org.uk for a guarantee form. If your animal products already (or soon will) come from animals raised on non-GM feed then please contact our researcher as soon as you are eligible.
